What is blood pressure? It is the pressure in the arteries as the heart pumps. The high number is the peak of pressure through the arterial system. The lower number is the lowest part of pressure in the system.

New guidelines from the American Heart Association suggest 130/80 as new normal. It used to be below 140/90. Stage I has double heart attack rate risk then 120/80. This puts 1 out of 3 American now have hypertension.

Exercise, fruits and vegetables, dark chocolate and red wine can lower blood pressure. Smoking, fried foods, salt, sedentary and stressful lifestyles can elevate Blood Pressure and shorten lives.
